United States Senator Ben Cardin visited the Footer Building as part of a walking tour of the Downtown Cumberland Historic District that highlighted past and current projects that have received state and federal tax credits or may be seeking them in the future.

Cardin, who has recently introduced bipartisan legislation that will expand the availability of historic preservation tax credits in rural communities and small towns across Maryland, discussed the urgent need for an expanded availability of tax credits to enable more projects of this type.
